UK inward investment – Financial Predictions for 2011

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

2011 was an interesting year for inward investment in the UK.

We had the demise of the RDA’s (Regional Development Authority’s). A new coalition government to stir things up a little which lead to a decision to increase UK VAT rate to 20%. (more…)

US Marines rescue The UK Voice

Monday, November 8th, 2010

While at a recent cultural awareness event at the US Embassy in London (an excellent Italian wine and food tasting demonstration, which I might add included some fabulous signature Italian wines and cheeses), I was concerned to learn that upon trying to leave, we had been locked in!

Already running late at about 8pm, our host called through to the security team and asked if we were allowed some extra time in the building and was assured that was ok. It should be said that security to get in and out for visitors to the Embassy, is as tight for employees working in the building.

Got locked in @usembassylondon last night - a marine had to come and let us out!

Being the last six in the group (helped to clear up) – we needed to call the security office and ask them to let us out. They would not! The building was then in lock down mode. They said that a marine would have to open up the exit door for us, and would be summoned from their quarters shortly to let us out. Which they did.

@ukaccounting the Marines were only trying to make sure you did not have too much fun here!

Morale of the story – don’t over stay your welcome, or you might be locked in!

Happy Anniversary blog.kevinbeare.com

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Later this month we will be celebrating our year anniversary of the Kevinbeare.com blog.

Paul, Kelly, Faye, Paul and Kevin

Originally, this was an idea that was toyed around with internally and the blog was initiated on a trial basis. Now, one year on and by comparison to the Google Analytics reports, it is more successful than the main domain.

AccountingWEB.com noticed a couple of live articles in the UK blog, and expressed an interest in utilising their content. Paul Beare now also blogs to US followers under the handle “The UK Voice”.

Our colleague Paul Tate has been monumental throughout the development of the blog, including prompt advice and responsive support. I would like to thank Paul Tate for his efforts once again.
