October UK/USA Investment news

Financial Indicators

UK Investment news

  • GDP increased by 1.2% in the second quarter of 2010, unrevised from previously published. GDP in the second quarter of 2010 is now 1.7% higher than the second quarter of 2009.
  • CPI annual inflation was 3.1% in August 2010, unchanged from July. In the year to August, RPI annual inflation was 4.7%, down from 4.8% in July.
  • Year on year, overall production output in August 2010 was 4.2% higher than in August 2009.

London Investment news

  • London’s annual growth in output increased to –0.4% in Q1 2010 from a downwardly revised -2.7% in Q4 2009.
  • London’s annual employment growth increased to -1.7% in Q1 2010 from -2.4% in Q4 2009.
  • Annual house price inflation in London increased to 16.2% in Q2 2010, from 12.4% in Q1 2010

USA Investment news

  • Real gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of 1.7% in the second quarter of 2010.  This follows a growth rate of 3.7% in the first quarter.
  • Personal income increased $30.0 billion, or 0.2%, and disposable personal income (DPI) increased $17.6 billion, or 0.2%, in July 2010.  Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $44.1 billion, or 0.4%.
  • The U.S. current-account deficit increased to $123.3 billion, or 3.4% of GDP in the second quarter of 2010, up from $109.2 billion in the first quarter of 2010, or 3.0% of GDP.

  • Private employment rose by 27,700 in July 2010, after a decrease of 9,000 jobs in June. (Source: New York State Dept. of Labour)
