UK
- Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased 0.2% in the first quarter of 2010, compared with an increase of 0.4% in the previous quarter.
- CPI annual inflation was 3.4% in March 2010, up from 3.0% in February.
- Year on year, output of the Service sector for February 2010 rose 0.1% compared with February 2009.
- Year on year, the volume of retail sales in March 2010 was 2.2% higher than in March 2009.
LONDON
- In the most recent 28-day period, (From 7 February 2010 to 6 March 2010) London’s Underground and buses had 260.6 million passenger journeys; 174.7 million by bus and 85.9 million by underground.
- The moving average annual rate of growth in passenger journeys increased to -0.1% from a downwardly revised -0.8% in the previous period.
- The percentage of the resident working age population who are unemployed and claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in London was 4.4% in March 2010. There were 221,800 unemployment claimants in London in March 2010 compared with a downwardly revised 224,400 in February. . There were 1,543,800 unemployment claimants in UK in March 2010 compared with a downwardly revised 1,576,700 in February.
US
- Real gross domestic product (GDP) grew at an annual rate of 3.2% in the first quarter of 2010, following an increase of 5.6% in the fourth quarter of 2009.
- The U.S. international trade deficit in goods and services in February 2010 increased 7.4% to $39.7 billion. Exports increased 0.2% to $143.2 billion, and imports increased 1.7% to $182.9 billion.
